When it was Healthy Eating Week we did Science, PSHCE, PE and Computing lessons all about this topic. A highlight was using the smoothie bike to make our own healthy smoothies.
We have continued working on our Computing skills and attempted to make pictograms. For Healthy Eating Week we used our Computing skills to make posters.
In DT, the children designed and made their own fabric faces. The children attempted different joining skills such as gluing, stapling and even stitching! They also had to represent each part of their faces including their hair.
Our Maths lessons have included mass, money and time. The children have started to recognise coins and notes and lots of them counted their money at home as part of their homework. We also used balance scales and 1kg weights to help us try to understand and compare mass.
In our English lessons we read the book ‘Hodgeheg’ by Dick King Smith. Our topic began with some art lessons by drawing and creating collages of the park setting from the story. The children also enjoyed incorporating drama as they acted out scenes from the story.
In PE the children have been working on striking and fielding. The enjoyed getting outside and playing tem games as well as working on their skills.
In PSHCE, the topic was called ‘Healthy Me’. The children discussed the different food groups and how to be healthy.
As part of our RE learning we had a lovely Easter mass at St Stephen’s church. We sang songs and some of the children did readings. The children were also lucky enough to visit the Sion church where they had a tour and listened to the Easter story.
Our Science learning was all about staying healthy so the children investigated how to look after their bodies, including teeth and hygiene. During one lesson we did an experiment about germs which involved glitter and washing our hands!
In Geography we have continued learning about Kampong Ayer, the water village in Brunei. The children have been exploring and comparing their homes with ours and well as the weather and the different ways of travelling.
