English at Springfield

Reading & Writing

At Springfield, pupils enjoy showcasing their writing in the school corridors for all to see. As we walk down our writing corridor it is lovely to see the range of writing from across the year groups.

Within each classroom we have a reading area where pupils can choose books that they wish to read and in some classes, get comfy amongst the cushions reading their favourite book!

Special Events

Spelling Bee Semi-Finals – 03 April 2019

Pupils have been working so hard to learn their year group spellings in preparation for the upcoming Spelling Bee final. On Wednesday 3rd April, pupils all made Mrs Brown so proud by representing Springfield in the semi-finals of the Spelling Bee and are pleased to announce that one of our pupils is through to the grand final! Congratulations Scott Crawford from Year 2 and a huge well done to all the other competitors who of course are invited to watch and support Scott in the final in June.

Spelling Bee – 08 February 2019

The first round of the SWAT cluster spelling bee took place on the 8th February. All the staff were so impressed with how dedicated pupils were in learning their spellings.

Well done to all that got through to the first round and a super well done to those who made it through to the semi-finals who will go head-to-head with pupils from 2 other schools to see who will make it through to the final. Watch this space!

Super Reading – 02 October 2018
