Safeguarding

Safeguarding and Child Protection at Springfield CPS

At Springfield CPS, the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of our children are our highest priority. We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils and expect all staff, volunteers, visitors, and governors to share this commitment.

We aim to provide a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, listened to, and respected. We promote a culture of vigilance and transparency, where safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

Our Safeguarding Approach

We have clear and robust safeguarding systems in place to:

  • Identify children who may be at risk of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or mental health concerns.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to concerns raised by staff, pupils, parents, or the wider community.
  • Support children and families, working closely with external agencies such as Children’s Social Care, health services, and police where necessary.
  • Promote wellbeing and resilience through our PSHE curriculum, assemblies, pastoral care, and emotional support.
  • Ensure safe recruitment by following Safer Recruitment procedures for all staff and volunteers.
  • Train all staff regularly, with annual safeguarding updates and clear procedures to follow if they are concerned about a child.

Online Safety

We are committed to teaching our children how to stay safe online both at school and at home. Our curriculum includes lessons on:

  • Safe and responsible internet use
  • Recognising and reporting online abuse or inappropriate content
  • Cyberbullying and online friendships
We also work with parents and carers to provide up-to-date guidance and support in managing online safety at home.

Please check out the Online Safety Section on our website, where we publish monthly newsletters with helpful tips, current issues, and guidance for families on keeping children safe online. These newsletters are designed to help you stay informed about the latest digital trends, apps, games, and how to support your child’s digital wellbeing.

Reporting a Concern
