Date and theme
5th and 6th November 2025 – Leaf Crowns
Week’s focus:
This week we focused on the children’s learning in history. They have been learning about kings and queens.
Learning Activities and Adventures
The children created a crown using colourful autumnal leaves, a hammer to cut out a jewel shape using a cookie cutter and a flower and snowflake hole punch. They glued the leaves onto a strip of paper.
Skills & Learning Highlights
We practised creativity, problem solving skills, building confidence and independence in a natural setting.
Reflections / What We Noticed
The group showed great perseverance when they hadn’t quite cut out the shape using their hammer and cookie cutter.
Nature Connection / Observations
We spotted lots of yellows and golden leaves to use for our crowns and decorative jewels. One child playing in the mud pit discovered a wriggly worm! We heard some birds singing in the trees.
Children’s Voice / Quotes
Harriet – “The Queen wore a crown.”
Darcie – “I’m going to be a Princess and make a sparkly crown.”
Elliot – “I like making a crown.”
Harrison – “I’m going to use the tree cookie cutter to make a jewel for my crown.”
