Here at Springfield CPS, we took part in this years Beat the Street organised by Alexis Turner at Burnley Leisure (BLC). We started with our assembly and talking about the importance of walking and other ways of being active within our local community (cycling, running etc.) as a school we spoke about the beat boxes that were local to our school.
Children were then given the cards and maps and off they went, it was slow uptake at first but soon after a week or so, it started to rocket. At the end of the first week we were the 27th highest scoring school in Burnley and by the time it had finished we were 8th.
We kept our families involved throughout the process, asking them post pictures of social media, prompts of theme-changes within the programme and also weekly leaderboard updates (as you can see below).
At Springfield CPS, we aim to plant some of the trees that we’ve earnt on our school grounds, Making use of them within our forest school area and other greenspaces around our amazing school.
