This week we focused on the children’s story Pumpkin Soup.
Learning Activities and Adventures
The children pretended to make their own pumpkin soup.
Skills & Learning Highlights
We practised knife skills with age-appropriate tools to chop orange peel, melon peel, carrots and cabbage under supervision. We also practised using a greater using pinecones, carrots, potato and orange peel under supervision. We weighed our ingredients using balance scales and used jugs to measure the amount of soup.
Reflections / What We Noticed
The group showed great care in using the tools and chopped up the vegetables into small chunks to add to the soup.
Nature Connection / Observations
We left more birdseed for the robin and other birds especially during the cold snap.
