28th January 2026 – Medicines, safe choices and helpers

Date and theme
28th January 2026 – Medicines, safe choices and helpers.

Week’s focus:

Decision making, identifying safe adults and items.

Learning Activities and Adventures

The children role played and pretended to be vets. We set up a Forest Vets Surgery and the children found poorly forest animals and gave them all a health check. They brushed their hair and teeth, checked their ears, checked their temperatures and gave them a vaccination.

Skills & Learning Highlights

Children learnt to let an adult know if they find medicine such as tablets. They know that adults may have the same medicine as them but we have different doses to make us better.

Reflections / What We Noticed

The group worked very well in working in groups of four, they showed great empathy and looked after their animal. They shared and took turns in using a stethoscope and a blood pressure monitor.

Nature Connection / Observations

The group talked about how bright and sunny the weather was in comparison to the day before. Storm Chandra was extremely wild and windy, we had heavy rain.

Children’s Voice / Quotes

Roman – “I’m giving squirrel a bandage. I’m cutting a bandage.”
Bella – “I’m checking Mrs Fox’s heart.”
Sahila – “Medicine make it better.”
Jupiter – “He’s got a piece of wood in his cheek.”
Haleema – “He is warm in his leaf blanket.”
Benji – “Mr Grey has a high temperature. He needs medicine.”
