7th November 2025 – Owl Babies Nest

Week’s focus:
This week we focused on the children’s story ‘Owl Babies.’ We learnt how owls and birds keep safe and warm in a nest.

We practised creativity, problem solving skills, building confidence and independence in a natural setting.

Reflections / What We Noticed
The group showed how an owl can keep warm and dry in a nest by crisscrossing twigs and sticks to give structure to the habitat and they collected large, soft and dry fallen leaves to keep the owl comfortable and cosy. The children built their nests off the ground to protect the babies from predators.

Nature Connection / Observations
We spotted the Dragon Head had been installed to complete the Dragon Tyre Frame. We played in the Autumn leaves; we spotted the stunning colours of the trees; we found a new type of fungi called Turkey Tail, and a used rocket found on the playing field from Bonfire Night.
