English

This term we have looked at the picture book Hello Lighthouse. We discussed the jobs a lighthouse keeper from the past would have had and created a to do list of these. We also wrote a diary entry form the point of view of the lighthouse keeper, discussing his daily life.

Maths

In maths this term we have been focusing on a lot of different area including: adding and subtracting fractions, plotting position and direction, reading analogue and digital time, adding and subtracting 3-digit numbers, and multiplying and dividing larger numbers using different methods.

Art

In art we have been developing our skills as artists including how to use pencil to shade and show light and creating pictures using rubbings of textures called frottage. We then looked at the work out the artist Georgia O’Keeffe and used her paintings as inspiration to make our own using a range of different mediums.

Science

In science we have been looking at plants. We have discussed what plants need to grow and be healthy, what the main parts of a plant are and what jobs they do, and how plants are pollinated and reproduce. We have also conducted experiments with plants, investigating how quickly roots can grow.

History

For history we have been looking at the Iron Age and how artefacts can help us to discover what life was like at that time. We have investigated hill forts and learnt about staters, coins that were used as offerings to the gods. We have also looked at why the Iron Age was not a peaceful time and compare it to the Stone and Bronze Ages we have already investigated.

Spanish

In Spanish this term we are learning how to say the 4 seasons and creating short sentences that describe them.

Computing

This term we have been learning how to use different digital music tools to compose tunes and beats that sound good.

RE

In RE we have been looking at Sikhism and why the Gurus were so important. We looked at the story of the first Guru, Guru Nanak, and what Sikhs learn from his life. We then learnt about the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book, and why it is treated like a person.

PSHCE

In our PSHCE we have been learning about being our best. We have though about what our talents are and how we can develop them. We have also discussed how we can be our best around others and work together.

PE

In PE we have started our swimming lessons and are learning how to be safe around water. We have also been developing our athletics skills, learning how to use different types of throws for different equipment and practicing running with speed.
