In May 2023, we marked the King’s accession to the throne with a joyful, community-focused street party-style celebration. The event not only honoured this historic occasion but also gave us the chance to celebrate everything that’s great about Burnley—including the fantastic local organisations and community groups who continue to support our school.
We were delighted to welcome representatives from: Burnley Leisure and Culture, Trees for Burnley, Incredible Edible, The School Choir, Safenet, The River Trust, Lancashire Adult Learning, NHS Support Teams (including Mental Health and the School Nurse Team), and many more.
Children enjoyed a traditional street party-style lunch in school, sharing tables and waving flags in celebration of the King’s accession. Afterwards, families were treated to a take-home meal of curry and rice, prepared by our kitchen team, as a small thank you for their continued support.
The event was very well received by both parents and carers, helping to strengthen the important relationships we have with our community partners. It was a true celebration of history, unity, and local pride — a memorable day for all involved.
